Soar

I had so much fun doing this page! I can't believe how easy it came together once I decided what I wanted to do. All the papers and embellishments are MME! I went ahead and outlined the pattern on the background paper with black pen and then outlined everything with black ink. I love how it makes everything stand out and how blue Colin's eyes look!

I wanted to wrap the twine around the picture to help draw your eye to it.
I went ahead and cut around part of one of the kits and layered it over the top of the title. I think it helps to tie everything together.
I thought outlining the kites and clouds really make the design stand out and pop a bit off the page.

Genuine Boy

.

Trying hard to get away from the "little" boy pages for Patrick. I mean he is 8 years old going on 16!! This one was quite challenging as I went a little bit out of my comfort zone with the distressing of the papers. I wanted to make the stars stand out a bit so I used some glossy accents on them and I love how they turned out.  They stand out from the page...but not too much...which is what I was trying to go for. Papers are Glitz Design, tag is from MME and arrows are Basic Gray.

Carnival Party

Patrick's 8th birthday is next month. I have been trying and trying to come up with ideas for a carnival party invitation. Finally came across Heidi Van Laar's blog and low and behold the cutest little circus tent card with a free template. I figured what do I have to lose right? The best part is? I had everything I needed already...easy peasy! So here is what I came up with:

In Memory

My wonderful mother in law passed away January 20th. She had been ill for quite some time..while it was not completely a surprise, it definitely has not been easy. I wanted to honor her in some way, I also do not want my boys to forget the wonderful Grammy they had. So in the end I decided the best way for me to do this was to do a scrapbook page about her. I tried to add things I knew she loved. My first gut instinct was to do a an all white LO with blue and pink accents. Her entire house was decorated in those colors. However I couldn't find a patterned paper with those colors in it that I liked. So I went with pink and green accents and a lot of cream. It worked out perfectly because I also wanted to add a hummingbird...something else that she loved! The one I found turned out to have the green and pink colors in it. We will miss her every day, she was a fabulous lady and I am glad I got to be a part of her life for so many years!
